We have got a new machine in from Dell running XP2000/Office 2003.
We have a small Access database.
So I installed Access from the master CD of the machine it replaced.
It installs fine.

When you try and run it a message says Access is not licensed on this
machine. Clearly incorrect.

What's the work around.

Ed, I ran into this problem this morning and found a
couple of Microsoft knowledge base articles on this.
basically renamed a font file and reinstalled and every
thing was okay. I believe the Article # is 141373
good luck

I spoke too soon! 141373 DOESN'T cover XP.
I tried running Alicn97.exe (?) but it said it could find a full retail
version on the machine. Can't see what the problem was as it was a Dell
OEM version that came with the original machine.

Any ideas?

Strictly speaking, Edward, the error message is not incorrect - OEM versions
are licensed only for the PC with which they were originally supplied. If
you think that's an overly restrictive licence, I would tend to agree with
you, but I don't make the rules.

Technically, you may be able to install by renaming the hatten.ttf font.
Legally - well, I'm not qualified to comment on legal issues.
