hello there,

I installed a second harddisk into my dell pc. Problem
is, that windows find the hardware, but i cant see it in
explorer. There is no letter set to the new HD !!!

Why is this ..``???

Thanks for help!!!

You may have to partition it and format it... It is a new drive or old? does
it have a file system on it that is recognizable by Windows? if it was on a
diff sys like Linux with an ext2/ext3 FS Windows won't see it until you
initalize it in disk management.

Go to Computer management and under Disk Management to set it up.

Greetings --

The hard drive cannot appear in Windows Explorer or My Computer
until it has been partitioned and formatted. Right-click My Computer
Manage > Disk Management. Create and format partition(s) on the
second hard drive as desired.

Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel. When CP opens, double click on
Administrative Tools, double click on Computer Management then click on Disk
management. Once the list is populated by all Hard and CD drives, scroll to
the drive in question.

If the drive in question shows as not formatted, partition and format it by
right clicking and using the menu items displayed.

If you see that the drive is listed as healthy right click on the drive
without a
letter. Somewhere you will see either of the two responses below.
Whichever you find use. DO NOT format or partition the drive because that
will remove all data on the disk and it is not needed. One of the two
responses below will fix your problem. Just have to find out which one.

If the option to initialize the disk is available use it. The drive should
now be able to be used.

If the disk is listed as missing or offline, right click on the drive and
click reactivate disk.

Thanks for you help guys.... !!!!!!
