I am wanting to add a second scsi hard drive to my HP Proliant 310ML server
for file storage, the operating system will remain on the existing drive. I
recently purchased a Fujitsu/Qualidad 73mb 68 pin scsi hard drive for this
purpose; instructions are sparce.
I understand the new drive needs to have an unique ID number; is there any
way to scan the hardware to see which ID numbers are already taken? I
gather the host adapter is probably #7, the boot drive #0. I have a tape
backup unit (streaming tape drive) but dont know its ID number.
Do I need to specify which drive will be the boot drive and which will be
the slave (the new drive will be the slave) and how is this done?
And then there is the question of termination; the existing hard drive is
last on the cable, can I assume this is terminated and hooking up the
slave/second/new drive in the middle of the chain will be OK and not
require any changes in the termination?
Yup, I'm a newbie. Thank you for any help.
