Installing a program...error message

I have been trying to install a program, but am receiving an error message "does not support Windows NT". I have Windows XP, so I do not understand this. Can you help?

Chances are the program does not support NT and when that error code was
written, XP was not out yet. In any case, most programs will don't support
NT will not support XP.

As far as that program Windows XP is Windows NT since they are both NT
technology.
Contact the manufacturer to check on Windows XP compatibility.

Thanks for your help! It's an old program and this is a new computer. For now, I'll just run it on the older computer and contact the mfgr to see if it is compatible in any way.
