Compaq w/ Athlon 200+ Hard drive is going to die soon. Can I install a new hard drive, and make the old hard drive a temporary slave (for ease of tranfering files). What do I do about reloading XP? or should I go back to the good old WIN3.1 for Workgroups that is still running on my 14 yr old Northgate 486?

You could go back to Win 3.1, but you'll get no support:)

With your new drive, they should include a utilities disk
with a dick copy program. Use it and it will transfer all
data from one drive to another, including Windows XP.

However, if you wish, you can install Windows XP fresh,
then copy the files manually.
