Hi

I have just put in a new firewire card. The card was
detected by XP as a Texas Instruments IEEE 1934 coplient
car. Happy with that. It starts to install it, then it
just stops and says error in data. The only option I have
is to hit finish. Any ideas?

Check with the manufacturer's web site to see if there's a newer driver
that you can install manually.

The card dosn't come with a driver. It's supposed to just
slot in and be picked up by xp.

I did find a driver 1934.inf but when it runs it can't
find certain file, such as ntmap.sys

Did you try to find a driver from the manufacturer? Clearly the one you
have isn't going to work at the moment.

Thanks Hywel. But the manufacture dosn't make a driver.
Its Berklin (£40 from PC world) It should just work!!!
AAAHHHH.

Hi there,

One thought at the moment. If you would like to contact me via my
website I will give you the low down

Why not just post your thought here for all to share? After all, that's
the point of usenet.

You are correct. XP should just install the driver. An interesting thing
about firewire cards is that the system also installs a 1394 network adapter
driver, which is where the missing ntmap.sys may be coming from (Yes, it is
possible to hook two compies together at 400Mbps for file transfers). A
google search using the missing file name may be of some help, and you
should also consider the old IRQ conflict shuffle with other PCI cards.

I installed the same card over the weekend and, as has been said, my computer automatically detected the firewire card. I did have problems the 1st time and removed the cover again and found the card wasn't pushed in correctly. I'd remove the card and replace it, ensuring it's correctly fitted, ie pushed (gently) down as far as it will go.

Good louck.
