hi all,
i'm capable but not proficient, so i may say/ask something stupid.
please bear with me.
i got a new hdd inside my desktop now, unformatted. system can see it.
it's attached to a different controller than the other two drives, so i
think its set to master. the existing c drive is still set to master as
well. ok i want to format, create 3 partitions, & install w2k on the
first partition of the new drive. i don't want to remove the other
drives from the machine (the inside of my case looks like spaghetti), &
i don't want to overwrite these drives until i copy the info to the new
fresh install. the plan is to run ubuntu linux on them after everything
i want has been copied/reinstalled on the new partitions. not that that
matters @ this point.
so after i boot from the cd, it finds the existing copy on the c drive.
i get the choice to repair or reinstall to that location. as i said, i
want a fresh install on the new drive, i don't want to do anything to
either of the old drives @ this point. my sister has said the only way
i'll get a fresh install on the new drive is to remove the old c drive,
which i'll do if there's not an alternative. is there? would changing
which hdd boots in bios make a difference?
thanx in adv for any assistance
