installimg win xp he

when i try to install my copy of win.xp i get a message
that it can't install to win 98 se. it says my 98se needs
to be updated.what dose this mean?.

Are you attempting to upgrade Window 98 to Windows XP using an OEM
Windows XP?
If so that is the problem since OEM is Clean Installation only and no
upgrade.
