My new PC came with Vista home premium and Works 8,5 preinstalled.
Since I use theOffice 2003 Suite I installed that, and wanted tu remove Works.

Started uninstall from the control panel, and it was running for 45 minutes
with
with a LOT of disk activity.
Then I got a message saying Installer is not responding, continue or cancel.
I choose cancel, a popup then said "canceling" and I left it like that for an
hour, but still canceling.
A try to cancel the process from task manager resulted in a locked desktop
and the only way I could think of was power off and restart.

Is it windows installer that is the culprit or explorer or what ??

My new HP laptop came with vista premium also, I think you may find it's
Vista premium itself..... I had installed numourous programs that did
exactly the same thing ( took forever to install or uninstall ) or I would
constantly get a box that popped up looking for drivers I finally got sick
of waiting so I re-formatted and installed a new version of Vista Business
edition and guess what ? all the problems vanished !! although I dont have
all the neat CRAP that HP installs ( snicker ) I am very happy with the
business edition and will use it untill more 3rd party company make more
stuff for Ultimate 64 bit then I will install that....Good Luck with your
premium
