installed xp pro over xp pro now can't get to desktop

PLEASE HELP -- i tried to repair my system but it only
left me install. Long story short -- i installed windows
pro over windows pro and now i can't use my comp at all.
It just says Preparing for setup . ............ All i
want to do is get to my system so i can back up some
essential files before i have to reformat. PLEASE HELP

If you selected anything other than the option to do a repair install,
anything in your My Documents folder is history.
Click on the link below, or copy and paste the link into the address box
