installed xp 2x in same partion(i am lame)

and 2nd install is good, but i can see all my prior apps and open all in
explorer, but can't run them. any ideas how to get em to work? also i now
have 2 windows folders showing in explorer. none of my apps show up in
START>PROGRAMS. weird. rather not scrub hd and start over.

In order for most applications to work - you must install them into the OS
you are running.
If you were trying to FIX the other install because of some issue - you
should have done a repair installation.

Reinstall all those apps to the original locations and recreate the settings
you like. The other install of Windows can be removed from the boot.ini, and
the files can be deleted after a reboot.

when you use the
windows cd, you
have the option to

a) repair the operating
system that is on the
harddrive or

b) reinstall windows over
the current installation
on the harddrive or

c) install windows to a
new folder or partition.

if your posting here is
because of (c) above, then
you might want to retry
your windows cd and do
either (a) or (b).

however, (a) is the preferable
method because it will preserve
the functionality of your third
party software, unless any of
them were incompatiable to
begin with and responsible for
crashing your o.s.
