Hello I hope i'm asking in the right section. Please help
me.

1) i had reinstalled windowsXP because the windowsxp i
had seemed to get to the blue screen pretty often and i
was sick of it.

after i reinstalled windowsxp, things seemed to work
right. then i went to windowsxp.com and and did search
for updates on my machine, it installed service pack 1a
and something else.

after that a window keeps popping up saying windows error
(something like that) and please send this info to
microsoft. /sigh please help

2) and also i try to install a game, it just freezes at
100% installation. and during installation, it keeps
saying file missing, abort or retry, and i keep hitting
retry and it works again, until it gets to 100% it just
can't retry anymore. the cd's work and installed on my
brother's computer but not mine, and i had just
reinstalled windowsxp. i dont know what to do.

please help me with my first and 2nd question, please.

thank u

"Misery loves Company..." All I can say is that I have
experienced exactly the same problem several times. I
will get so many errors or crashes that I'll repartition,
reformat, & reload Windows XP with just the basic
software. It seems to work fine until I start
downloading all the patches & updates. By the time I've
downloaded all the updates, Windows doesn't seem to work
well anymore... and neither do my programs. It helps to
know that others are having the same problems...

/sigh i dont know what to do, i hope someone who knows
what to do will replay, this is such a pain :(

thanks for adding your message of the same problem,
hopefully we'll get some answers.

Try renaming the 'catroot2' file to some other thing such as catroot2 old.
Then reboot, download and install the updates.
