Hey everybody! I have (had?) an emachines computer that has xp installed and
it worked great. I have a cable hook up and the kids are constantly picking
up pop spyware. Adaware helped, but I would go into the temporary internet
file everyday and delete everything. The other night i was fed up, (and dead
tired) so i downloaded spybot (search and destroy) from pcworld's site. I
backed up all my old settings or files (i'm not mr computer, but i'm not
stupid...maybe a little) but i didnt save the settings or files on a
removable disk. One thing lead to another and the computer had to be shut
down and restarted. Upon restarting, windows xp was unable to restart. I
pressed F8 during the next restart to get more options and nothing would
respond. I was stuck in this screen. I searched high and low for the
recovery cd or disks that i think came with the machine but found nothing.
With a graduation party on my mind (had over 100 people over for food and
drinks for my daughters graduation and not a whole went right, rain...
anyway, BABY I WAS STRESSED!!) so I dropped the non functioning computer off
at a reputable repair and recovery service dealer. I haven't anything from
them yet, but how bad does this sound? will i lose all my files???
