I just installed Panda anti-virus (have e-mails into them,
too). Machine locked up. reboot, starts automatically
shutting down, before all icons are up, due to "Remote
Procedure call" or RPC or something. I try and reboot in
Safe Mode , F8, says it "can't use System restore" and
once it boots in Safe Mode, I have no Start Menu, I don't
know how to get to control panel with out it. I was going
to try and uninstall the antivirus program. Locks up so
bad I have to turn the power off to get it to shut down.
Any ideas?

Well, thanks, without an anti-virus program to tell me, I
had no clue. I'll check the websites. did and....

WAIT!! Removal info, below...says go to Start/Run.....I
have lost them. They don't show up in normal start or in
Safe Mode....How do I get them back?????

Hi,

Hit the windowskey+r

Or, ctrl+shift+escape, on the application tab, click "new task".

I think you might of left one 'little' part out Rick. Once you press
WinKey+R or CTRL+Shift+Esc>>Application Tab, Click "new task" and you will
want to type "explorer.exe" and hit enter.

Thanks Both!! I'm at work, 10 pm, so will go home and
try this on the sick computer, let you know tomorrow
evening!

Hi Chris,

I was just answering the question about how to get a run prompt, what he/she
does from there is up to them. Reloading explorer is a convenience, but not
necessary to follow the bug removal steps. If cleaned properly, it will come
back on its own.
