Installed new Processor, now display resolution is strange

I just replaced my old AMD 64 3200 with an AMD 64 X2 4200. The processor is
working great and is recognized correctly, but everytime I start my computer,
it defaults to 640x480 resolution. Going into the display properties and
changing the settings corrects the problem, but only until I restart. I am
using a GeForce 6600 video card, and have the latest drivers for all of my
software (at least to the best of my knowledge). Why is this happening and,
more importantly, how can I fix it? Thanks.

Hi David1138,

Uninstall the NVIDIA drivers. Reboot - you PC should come up in VGA mode.
Re-install the (latest) drivers.
Might work?

Stop using those paper phone message pads
make the computer work for you.

and do NOT use winupdate for drivers
