Kieron

I recently installed a new driver for my nvidia nforce2
motherboard, and since then I get the good ol' error 404.
Can't display page. my modem (broadband) connects fine and
is connected at normal speed - but explorer just can't
find any pages! Auto updates and netscape navigator don't
work either - so the problem is deep somewhere...)
Any suggestions to some settings that need tweaking that I
might have missed?

Hi Kieron, saying what version of Windows might help. Note [space] means
leave one space between the command and the parameter /.

If 2000 (and I think XP) open a command prompt and type IPCONFIG [space]
/ALL and see what settings you have. These should be given by your ISP as
the PC signs on.

Note what they are and try IPCONFIG [space] /renew to ask your ISP for the
settings again. Maybe the driver upset them, can't do much but guess since I
don't have that motherboard.

If you have not yet unplugged the modem for about a minute to reset it you
might want to consider that too. Your Network card for the modem should be
set to obtain settings automatically for this to work (It's called DHCP) and
automatic is probably what your ISP would have allowed for.

Start>settings>Network and Dial Up > select the card and look at properties
to see if the setting is automatic. If not NOTE the numbers there before
switching just in case you have to put them back.

Hope this helps, post back if not.
