Hi,

I had 256MB of RAM installed on my laptop and purchased an additional 512MB
of RAM. Upon installing the RAM, the machine boots OK but when you open up a
lot of applications the machine generates the blue screen.

The blue screen says something about the machine being out of disk space.
But I have configured the system to have virtual memory of upto 1GB,
although I have put the virtual disk on Drive G: (the last 4GB of my 30GB
hard drive).

I am not too sure what's causing the problem, suggestions?

It sounds like you're using a Windows 9x OS. They only support 51
megs of RAM in total. There is a work around, just use "out o
memory error" for your google search

Op failed to include important information in the body of
the message, instead only mentioning "WinXP" in the Subject
