Hi there

to get access to an empty DVD it says: "Cannot access" "Invalid Function"
...in German: "Auf D:\ kann nicht zugegriffen werden. - Unzulässige Funktion!"

Pls help! Want to do my back-up somewhen!

There isn't any native DVD burning support in XP.. What burning app came
bundled with the new DVD burner, Nero, Roxio..? You may just need to click
"ok" to dismiss the error window, then just go ahead and use the burning
app's direct burning rom or packet writing features, if they are installed,
are they..?

thanks for your hint - didn't know that Nero does contain an data-security
assistant... should work now - thnx again

....this all only means that I bought the Acronis SW in vain... anyone
interested? ;)

I use True Image and Nero 5.5 on my system.. True image is very good for
imaging your entire OS, though it will not burn directly to DVD/CD-R-RW media
or create ISO images.. Nero will, so it was not in vain, keep it..

There is no capability to burn DVD's built into XP. You need to use
third-party software. Checking the "enable recording" box will not
help.

Here's a nice (free) CD/DVD burning program:
