After I installed NAV2004 the newsgroup's in Outlook Express won't
work.

Uninstall NAV2004 and install a better AV, such as NOD32.
NAV causes so many problems for so many people and is such a crap
product it's not worth having.

I've only recently heard of NOD32 and don't know anything about it. Is
there a trial version I can download?

It's the best AV in the world! Especially if you have an older
computer, you'll notice a world of difference in speed - both of the AV
itself and of your machine in general.
And it detects viruses, which Norton frequently didn't in my experience.
