I replaced my 2nd harddrive which was D:, the new drive
comes up as E: in windows. The old drive is removed, I
also removed the CDRom so I only have 2 drives C: and what
should be D:. It is D: in DOS when partitioning and
formatting so it's Windows that sees it as E:. I've tried
removing and reinstalling, different cable positions, I am
lost as to what to look for.

Go to start: settings:administrative tools: computer
management: storage: disk management: now look bottom
right side. You see the hard drive boxes. Right click on E
and you will see change hard drive letter and path. click
that. Edit and you have a box that lets you change letter.

That worked! Thanks!
