how many computers can you install Vista on if you have more than one
computer in your home or office without having to buy one for each?

Hello weescooter,

One computer >> one license, that's how it works. Only in Ultimate and Enterprise
you are allowed to install additional virtual machines on a computer with
vista installed.

You can only install one copy of vista on one machine. If you need it on
other machines you have two options:

1/ Buy copies for each machine you need it for
2/ If you have more than 5 machines check out Microsoft's volume licencing

Same as any previous version of Windows, one. Each computer needs its own
license for the copy of Windows installed on that PC.

You can install Vista from one Installation DVD on as many computers as you
want, BUT you will need a unique product code for each installation if you
expect them to work for more than a few days.

Heck, you can even install whatever version you want.

One computer per purchased copy.

I bought an academic version of Home Premium Upgrade which I used to upgrade
my laptop. I'd like to buy an additional license of this type to upgrade my
desktop, but I can't seem to find one. I visited the Microsoft page for
upgrading and ordering additional licenses and followed the instructions,
enetred the prodict ID, etc., but the process seemed to dead end, as if maybe
the purchase of an additional license is not yet available, at least not for
this version. It seems like such a waste to get another DVD when this one is
fine. Any ideas?

I have never see any program for getting additional licenses for the
Academic versions of any Microsoft program (at a discounted price).
Remember, your original purchase was heavily discounted to begin with.

Just buy another package at your book store, or wherever you got it from.

Yep, that's what I'll do. Just thought there would be a way to not have to
buy another DVD, but if that's the only inconvenience I have, it's worth it!
Thanks for the information.
