My system is (was) running Windows Me, I ran all the test
to see if I could upgrade to XP everything was good I
added ram and was good to go.....I purchased windows xp
home edition upgrade and tried to install it, I was
getting errors reading "can't find ___ I should have wrote
them down, after the third error it said window xp can not
be installed and logged off when I booted back up I tried
to uninstall xp and I thought I was ok unit I booted up
again now I get a black screen reading
c:\windows\system\vxmm.vxd not found type in loader???????
I have a HP and my windows me is install on a hp cd which
my system is telling me it is the wrong cd for my
computer, its not I don't know if it is saying it is the
wrong one because I installed more ram??? I have a big
mess and don't know how to get it right. I tried re-
installing xp but know I have to prove I have ME and it
read it the first install but no the second. I am sorry
if I don't make any sense. Any feedback would be greatly
appricated I am going crazy on my old computer....
Thanks
Fran

Try removing the new memory. Those weird errors (vxd errors and files not
found during Windows setup) are often caused by problems with memory. Since
it's the only thing you changed recently, its the logical place to start
troubleshooting.
