I'm trying to upgrade my computer that had Windows ME preinstalled with Windows XP Home Edition. Everytime i get to a certain point, I get the infamous "Blue Screen of Death". It keeps coming up, and I can't get Windows XP installed correctly. What can I do to stop this?

If you post the error code you recieved at the blue
screen then it would be easier for someone here to help
you. Also indicate at what point the installation failed.
Good luck

This could be one of many different issues. You need to describe the error
message in the blue screen.

If this is an OEM version of XP Home, it will only install clean. You will
not be able to perform an upgrade installation.

Did you run the Upgrade Advisor to check if the system can handle XP?

What do you mean an OEM version? And yes, I ran the upgrade advisor about a month ago, and removed anything that would affect the installation. I haven't installed any programs since then. Now, when I run it, whether it's the one included in the setup, or the one you can download off the internet, it stops about 3 quarters of the way through. I can't say exactly where.

An OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) version is sold at a substantial
discount, usually with a piece of hardware. It is the same OS, but the
licensing terms are different. These versions can only be installed on a
clean hard drive and not used for upgrading a previous version of Windows.

I did not understand the second part of your message? Not sure what you mean
by "whether it's the one included in the setup, or the one you can download
off the internet".
