I want to install Windows XP onto my PC, but Windows 98 is
already on my computer. I want to create a backup disk
(just in case) and uninstall Win98, but when my computer
starts up, windows is not opening. It asks me what mode I
would like to start up (suggests command prompt) then it
goes to Microsoft registry checker, says it's found a
problem and fixed it, and then asks to restart the
computer. I've done this at least 30 times so I don't
think it's fixing the problem. I'm able to run in DOS
mode, can I uninstall Win98 from there? And if yes,
HOW??!!?? I could really use all the help I can get.
Thank you

Hello

Well here is some good advice, I would back up any important
data that you have currently on your pc and make sure that all
your devices, from modem, to vidoe card and printer will support
your new OS XP. Also annother thing to check is make sure
that all your programs will work on XP.

Once your data is backed up and you know that all your devices will
support the new OS XP, go inot your system Bios and change the boot
sequence and make the cdrom 1. Boot with your win XP cdrom and
during the process will ask you to enter the win98 ok. And just follow
what it says to do. One more thing see link below

Hello

You can re-install win98 or go inot safe mode for win, and see
if you can do that, apparently you have some corrupted files in your
OS.
