I have tried several times to do a clean install of both Beta2 And RC1 having
only to do a reset and forget the installation. PC is home built on ASUS
A7M266-D motherboard running 2xAMD 2800+ cpu's, with 2GB memory, Graphics
card Asus 9800xt, 3xATA hard drives with 6 partitions, Sound card etc running
2000 drivers ets. completely up to date.
To go back to installation I boot from DVD wanting to keep 2000 and to do a
dual boot system 2000/vista, I get to entering product code as given by
Microsoft then semms that system hangs Stage 1 collecting information with
progress bar approx 1/4 and hour glass, PC has not been touched for upto an
hour in this situation then as stated aborting install by a reset. Pitstop
check states PC pass apart from operating system which is ok as doing a dual
boot. Any help suggestions would be appreciated
 
Don't boot from the DVD run it fom 2000 and do NOT select upgrade. It will
ask you where you want to put Vista. That needs to be a seperate partition
from 2000 with a 20GB spare space. Try that. It may well change the drive
letters so make sure all the partitions have got names before you start. It
will stop you getting confused.

Have tried this as well but unfortunately this also fails. Upon insertion of
disc which starts up and an error window appears Titled "setup.exe - Bad
Image" explanation states "The application or DLL G:\Sources\SPWIZENG.DLL is
not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation
diskette." Then either closing or ok this window another pops up Titled
"Install Windows" explanation "The file 'autorun.dll' could not be loaded or
is corrupt. Setup cannot continue. Error code is [0xC1]" closing or ok this
window and disk spins down and nothing else happens.
