Installation--system registry values

I'm installing Frontpage 2003 onto my Windows notebook, which meets all the
requirements. Now, I get about 60% through the installation fine, but then
it proceeds to start "writing system registry values." It stands at this
point for more than a half hour, and nothing happens. A message came up that
Windows lost connection with the installer, so I shut it down. I tried a
second time, to know avail. Any thoughts?

I'm installing it from a CD--the regular $199.99 FrontPage 2003.

Anything?

And, by the way, the message I get at the end is not "Windows has lost
connection...," but instead "Windows Installer is not responding." But the
real problem is the system registry values deal.

Are you installing it from a login account that has administrator privileges??
If not try logging on as administrator and then running the install.

If that's not the issue, see if it is listed in Add Remove programs in the control panel.
If so, select it and click Uninstall

If either of the above is not the case, copy the appropriate FP 2003 folder from the CD to
a folder on your hard drive,
then navigate to it using Windows Explorer and double click Setup.exe.
If the same problem exists you have a bad CD.
Return it to the place you bought it and demand an exchange.

Thanks for the information. I am using the only account on my computer--and,
therefore, it is the administrator account.

By "it" (as in "see if it is listed in Add Remove programs..."), if you mean
FrontPage, it does not appear in Add or Remove Programs.

I'll try putting the folder onto my hard drive...then I'll get back to you.

Thanks!
