I'me getting ready to install the Windows XP Embedded tools (e.g., Target
Designer) and I noticed on the MSDN site that the tools include Visual
Studio (VS).

My question: I already have VS 2003 installed on my computer. So what will
the installation of the Embedded tools do to the existing installation of VS
2003?

The XPE tools don't include VS. It does install MSDE (desktop SQL Server),
but not VS. You may have been reading about CE where depending on the
version you install, it can install different compile environments (such as
Embedded Visual C++ 4.0).
