When I was installing windows xp pro with sp2, could not get it to install a
file called "tourW.exe". Had to skip and finished the installion without any
further hitches. However, now, cannot install updates. Anyone know what
tourW.exe is and how I can fix it?

Hi,

Tourw.exe is in the I386 folder on the CD. You can expand a new copy (see
below), but I don't think that's why you can't install updates. Instead,
click start/run, type %windir%\windowsupdate.log and click ok. Scroll to the
bottom and post back with the error codes (look like 0x00000000), or post to
the windowsupdate group.

To retrieve a copy of TourW.exe: Click start/run, type msconfig and click
ok. Click on "expand file" (general tab), then enter these:

File to expand: tourw.exe
From: X:\I386
To: C:\Windows\system32

Where X is whatever letter is assigned your CD drive (you need your WinXP CD
for this), change it accordingly. If your system was preinstalled, you may
find this instead on the hard drive under C:\Windows\I386 or simply C:\I386.
If so, change the "from" line accordingly. This assumes a default
installation to C:\Windows. If your installation is in a different folder,
such as C:\Winnt, change the "To" path accordingly. Reboot when finished.
