Installation Problem

I have a 5-disc cd-rom changer that I want to install in a
computer running XP professional. When I install it, XP
recognizes it, but only assigns one drive letter. Under
Win98, 5 separate drive letters would be assigned. Any
suggestions on how to make XP recognize and assign 5
separate drive letters?

Thanks. I thought of that. This particular changer (from Panasonic) had a
driver for Win 95, but Win 98 had a generic driver included which worked
just fine. When I went to the Panasonic web site, they do not post any Win98
or XP drivers, soI was assuming that XP had a driver already included. Then
I went to DriverGuide, but they did not have anything either. Appreciate the
suggestions.

Greg, know You are tryin to install a different CD Changer, but seemly, when one works is easy to get others to work

Also, but looking how to install a CD Changer (NEC 6x4 CD Change) in XP Pro

It worked great in Windows 98. Just once had to run the nec_sys.sys driver for it CD Changer in the Config.sys and the MS-Dos CD Utility Mscdex.exe in the Autoexec.bat and shows all 4 of the CD Drives and Win 98 Install them as separate CD Drives. Then i could remove each of these programs from the Config.sys and Autoexec.bat files and Windows 98 still recognized them

Windows XP Pro doesn't recognize, but 1 of the CD Drives upon Installation and yet, looking at the CD drive list in Windows XP Pro's Installation CD, it shows 4 different CD Changers, but installing mine still shows but one CD Drive

Today, tired using the old nec_sys.sys MS-DOS driver and also the Mscdex.exe MS-DOS CD Utility from Windows 98 in as i did in Windows 98. They both seemly loaded, but still shows only one of the CD Changer Drives

Know this took sometime after Windows 95 came out to get these CD Changers to work and would have thought there was a way to get them to work in WINdows Pro by now

Would be greatiful for any help

P.S. no new drivers out for this CD Chnager since Windows 95.

Thanks. If I get any new information I will let you know

hiya and thanks....

well, was just looking below, to see if any more informatio
or if any new drivers for the NEC 6x4 CD Changer

http://www.driverguide.com

maybe You'll have better luck for Your CD Changer than I did

still funny, MS Win XP does have the My CD Changer on the lis
of drivers, provied with Win XP Pro, but using it, only recognize
1 of the 4 drives

Anyway the site is a sign up place, but does have a lot of driver
and a request for drivers/driver help. Is free and seemly safe

If not been there before, hope You have better luck.
