I have winxp home edition. On another pc having win98SE, I made a folder by
the name of (my download folder) containing my downloads. From this pc I
burned a cd and copied the (my download folder) on it.
Now I wanted to install a program on the pc having winxp home. The moment I
click on the downloaded file icon I get it is not a valid win32 application.
In fact all the files in this folder are having icons resembling the generic
command type icon.
Is there any way that I will be in a position to retrive all the downloaded
files?

if you istalled the programs and then copied them you may have a conflict.
but if just downloaded them into the folder then copied them there shouldnt
have been a problem. and you can always use the compatibility wizard . it
would seem i have had to use that alot

I was for a few months at one place. There I was using win98SRE and
downloaded some programs(executables). Installed then there in that pc and
after some months copied them and wanted to install then here at another
place----- it did not happen.
I would request you further to throw some more light on "and you can always
use the compatibility wizard . it
would seem i have had to use that alot". Here I would like to add that in
the past I have been doing this and I have had no problems whatsoever.
