I've got a problem in the installation of Windows Vista. I've got Windows XP
SP2 with a full set of all the recent security updates. I've used the Windows
Vista Upgrade Advisor and the report says that my PC doesn't need anything
extra to upgrade to Windows Vista (except that it tells me to uninstall
McAfee Security Center during the first part of the installation process).
On doing the upgrade to Windows Vista, it gets as far as "Completing Setup"
and then it hangs - I've tried three times to install Windows Vista as an
upgrade.
I don't have a sound card installed (I use the one built into my
motherboard) - my system (I know, pitifully small and not very powerful but
adequate for my needs) is:
ASRock K7VT4A Pro (Socket A) motherboard
AMD Sempron 2400+ CPU
512MB PC2700 RAM
40GB HDD
I'm getting frustrated now - every time I reset my computer it tells me that
the upgrade has not been successful and it rolls back to my XP2 installation.
When this happens, a small file called
"{E53E51C1-0538-4C20-AA0B-524BAA65CF29}" appears?
Any ideas/suggestions welcomed ;-)
Thanks,
DNA
