while installing xp on thoshiba laptop its shows that there is no
hardisk found.what will do?
What is on the disk now ? Do you have multiple OSes
installed ?
Do you have a recovery partition on the disk ? I hope
you have prepared in advance for what you are attempting.
Sometimes, a laptop will have a recovery partition, and
to restore the OS, all you have to do, is press a certain
function key at startup. If you remove the recovery partition,
without burning CDs or DVDs using that partition, you
could lose all that information permanently.
I've had trouble installing Windows before, where the
contents of the partition table, prevented the Windows
installer from working. Since there was nothing of value
on the disk, the problem was easily fixed by just erasing
the disk. If you have data on there, you're going to have
to be a lot more careful when fixing the problem.
You can get a tool here, to erase hard drives. This tool
erases *all* hard drives on the computer! All user data will
be lost. Be careful with this! Some people have left their
backup hard drive connected to the computer, and run this
utility, and lost their backup files. Be careful. This
tool can erase up to 100 hard drives which are connected
to the computer, at the same time. If you don't have a
floppy drive, there is a version which boots from your
CD/DVD drive. The quick erase is good enough.
