Installation of windows vista ultimate

I have just bought all the parts and put together a computer. Now I am trying
to install vista ultimate. Unfortunately I get an error code 80070017 and it
says windows cannot install required files. The copy of vista ultimate is
brand new.
Is there any way around this??

Indications by looking it up on Google are that the DVD is corrupt, or an
issue with the DVD drive itself.
