Hey Guys, a sort of quick one for you all.. (hopefully)
Currently running Vista on my Home PC and XP Pro on my home Laptop.
Definately impressed with Vista and want to know the best way to install
Vista on both my desktop and laptop. When released, I am going to purchase
the Vista Premium - Full Version... Do I have to buy two seperate Vista
software for each computer, or is there a way of dual liscencing or
purchasing a liscence for a second computer.... I guess alot of people have
two pc's in the home these days... Just wondering the best, most cost
effective way to do this.
Cheers, Matt

Yes, each PC requires it's own Vista license.

No "home licencing" plans have been announced by Microsoft as of yet.

You will need two licenses. You can install from the one media but you have
to have a second product key, which for consumers means buying another
retail copy of Vista.

It is correct that you need 2 licenses but you can upgrade the XP Pro version
(must be SP2). If you have a valid copy of XP for the other machine then
upgrade that one alsol otherwise you will need a full retail copy.

I don't quite understand your question.

You need a license for each copy of Vista that is running, upgrade or full
edition is the same. If you upgrade XP Home SP2 you can upgrade to any
edition of Vista. If you upgrade XP Pro SP2 it must be to Vista Business or
Vista Ultimate. If you try to do a downgrade from XP Pro SP2 to Vista Home
Basic or Vista Home Premium you will have to do a custom install of Vista.
If you use a Vista upgrade edition to upgrade XP to Vista in any scenario
you tie the XP license to the Vista license and cannot reuse the XP. If you
use a Vista full edition to upgrade-in-place from XP to Vista you can use
the XP license again on another machine.
