Installation of Software

I have tried installing various purchased programs, such as Nero 5.5, Roxio
5 basic, Partition Magic, XP Power Tools etc, but when I run them all I get
is an error message to the effect that a system policy has been set and
prohibits the installation - can anyone help please because I have paid cash
for these programs and not being able to use them is .........

Are you the System Administrator? If not, contact the person who is and
have them install the programs for you.

Hi Mike,

If you have XP Pro, go to Start > Run > gpedit.msc
go to User settings > Windows components > Windows Installer > and in
the right pane, check that the policy 'Disable installation of any
removable media' is either not configured or disabled.
