Just built a new computer (actually new MB, Vid, RAM and CPU). My XP
installation actually booted up fine after the change over - went from
ADM/Nvidia to Intel.
However, as I have done for years, was going to install Vista as a dual
boot - then the trouble came! Booting from DVD it gets to a point where
install wants a destination partition. OK, fine - point Vista to a
partitioned HD with nothing installed on that partition... and promptly get
the message "Windows can not find a acceptable media for installation" or
very simular.
Wow, OK maybe a problem with that partition?? Anyway, selected another
partition and got the same response. Actually tried three different
partitions and all behaved the same.
Have run every check, error correction and diagnostic program known to me
and no relief! Now bare in mind that all partitions are excessible, XP disk
mgmt sees all as healthy even Partition Magic sees all partions as good! I
have installed systems since DOS 3.3 and Windows 3.1 and never ran into a
problem of this nature!
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
