I installed Norton Partition Magic w/ Boot Magic in order to partition my
drive to run dual OS between Winxp and Vista. Last night I was able to switch
between the two using the Boot Magic Rescue Disk but now that doesn't work. I
contacted Symantec and they said their product doesn't support Vista so I
can't use it to do what I'm trying to do. I'm becoming very frustrated with
this whole thing. I like Vista and would like to use the OS I bought but not
if it's going to be such a hassle.

For your information:
all you need is an empty partition in order to install Vista...........it
will create the dual boot options.
The choice will come up when you boot.....Old OS or Vista

You actually paid for Vista???

I saw that when I loaded Vista it gave me the choice of putting it(Vista) on
the partition that I created. The problem is now when I boot I'm not given
the choice of booting either XP Pro or Vista it automatically goes to XP.
Also I checked the partition that Vista is on and it was hidden so I unhid it
and that didn't work. Now I'm going to try and make Vista the active
partition and see what happens. I just wish that I would get a prompt after
the Bios while the machine is booting asking me which OS to boot to.

I forgot to mention that yes I paid for Vista since I didn't want the long
download time, and I like having the disks.

I think you can fix your boot situation using this:

If you have to format to try again, vista will allow you to run setup in XP
and keep your drive letters or run setup from a restart and change the drive
letters but it will create a reliable dual boot. You have your space, so
once you install Vista if you went to a new build you can use Disk
Management from XP to format your Vista drive.

Good luck,

I got it working, thanks anyway for the advice. So far, so good. I think I'm
going to love Vista,it's very "cool". Also, I bought Office Pro 2007, also
very "cool".
