After downloading the VISTA public BETA2 ISO I am having problems getting it
going on my Laptop, the installation seems to work but on re-boot I get a
please wait messge with the 'Aurora' background which just sits there for
ever. I have installed from the same ISO image on another desktop PC and all
worked perfectly so I think the DVD image is a good one and this is looking
like a hardware issue of some sort. I've tried 'safe mode' from the F8 menu
with no joy, same result.

Has anyone had a similar issue ?? If so have you had any joy in getting
things going ?? Any ideas on how to debug this ??

My basic hardware spec is as follows (should be VISTA Capable)...

Sony VAIO PCG-K215M
Pentium 4 2.8GHz
1 GB RAM
60 GB Drive (single primary partition)
ATI RADION IGP 345M (64MB)

I have the same problem as you on my Desktop PC.
Have you tried the install when booting?
(Insert the DVD into your drive, reboot system, press a key enter setup. The
result on my side was, the aurora background, doing nothing waiting for the
menu to popup. But after 2 hours still nothing.)

G'day

I've experencing the same problem with a Sony Vaio PCG-K79P.
It's a P4 3.06GHz 1Gb RAM ATI Vid card which meets requirements.

If I run the install though XP (clean or upgrade) it happpilly runs,
completes the first reboot and then hangs while trying to reload not runnin
XP.

If I install though bootup the installer halts responding anywhere betweeen
the grey loading bars at start to the disk management / volume install select
screen.

Is there a known clash with the VAIOs?

The same DVD completed the install on my desktop PC (AMD 2400XP) - the disk
seems to be fine,

If anyone found a work around for this solution I would love the help!

Cheers,

Brendyn

Unfortunately I cannot say what the problem is, although I am also having the

Ive just tried updating my bios to the latest, will let you know if anything
comes of it.

The reboot at that point of Expanding Files is normal behavior. At that
point, Setup cannot continue if it is missing the driver for your hard drive
controller.
