I purchased the upgraded version of Vista Home Premium. I now am running XP
Home

The installation begins to work through the following stages:

Copying Windows Files
Gathering Files

However, when it reaches expanding files, it stops and I get an error
message that says installation has been cancelled could not find boot
configuration. No files downloaded will be saved to your computer.

I try to enter the set up and boot menu at start up, ( pressing F2 or F12,
and even delete) but it refuses to enter.
I have gone to the dell website to update my bios and still am having no
luck. Dont know what else to try. Is there a way to enter the setup through
DOS?

I have to wonder if uninstalling Sonic is the problem but that was the first
thing Vista told me to do when i first tried to run the upgrade. I have tried
both the upgrade and clean install. It stops at the same place for both.

try copying the installation dvd disk to your hard drive. then run the setup
from there. or you can also try running the install after doing clean boot
