I cannot get RIS to install a RipRep image on a new Dell Precision 370.
It does not find the hard drive, it stops when the Mass Storage Driver
is to be loaded.
I created the neccary folder under the
D:\RisImages\..\..\..\I386\$OEM$\TEXTMODE and added the necessary SCSI
Drivers from the manufacturer's CD. Then, I modified the RipRep.sif
file accordingly. If I modify the RipRep.sif to point to "OEM", I get
the following error:
File txtsetup.oem caused an unexpected error (21) at line 1044 in
D:\NT\PRIVATE\NTOS\BOOT\SETUP\OEMDISK.C

Note: The txtsetup.oem is setup in the following fashion:
-------------------Code Starts Here
------------------------------------
[Disks]
disk1 = "Intel Application Accelerator driver",\iaStor,""

[Defaults]
scsi = iaStor_ICH6R

;----------- Component Section -----------

[scsi]
iaStor_ICH6R = "Intel(R) 82801FR SATA RAID Controller (Desktop ICH6R)"
iaAHCI_ICH6R = "Intel(R) 82801FR SATA AHCI Controller (Desktop ICH6R)"

inf = disk1, iaStor.inf
catalog = disk1, iaStor.cat

[Files.scsi.iaAHCI_ICH6R]
driver = disk1, iaStor.sys, iaStor
inf = disk1, iaAHCI.inf
catalog = disk1, iaAHCI.cat

;-------------------------------------------

[Config.iaStor]

value = "", ErrorControl, REG_DWORD, 1

[HardwareIds.scsi.iaAHCI_ICH6R]
id = "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2652&CC_0106","iaStor"

---------- End of Code ---------------------------

If I point to "Retail", I get the following error:
The Entry "Intel(R) 82801FR SATA RAID Controller (Desktop ICH6R)" in
the unattented script file doesn't exist in the [SCSI] section of the
INF file txtsetup.sif
Setup cannot continue.

Note: The [SCSI] section in txtsetup.sif does contain the reference
that is listed. BTW, the txtsetup.sif comes from the following
location of the riprep image:
...\i386\Mirror1\UserData\I386

---------- Start of Code ----------------
[SCSI]
fd16_700 = "Adaptec 2920/2905 / Future Domain 16XX/PCI/SCSI2Go"
sparrow = "Adaptec AHA-151X/AHA-152X/AIC-6X60 SCSI Adapter"
aha154x = "Adaptec AHA-154X/AHA-164X SCSI Host Adapter"
aic78xx = "Adaptec AHA-294X/AHA-394X/AIC-78XX SCSI Controller"
aic78u2 = "Adaptec AHA-294XU2/AIC-7890 SCSI Controller"
iaStor = "Intel(R) 82801FR SATA AHCI Controller (Desktop ICH6R)"
iaStor_ICH6R = "Intel(R) 82801FR SATA RAID Controller (Desktop ICH6R)"
iaAHCI_ICH6R = "Intel(R) 82801FR SATA AHCI Controller (Desktop ICH6R)"
------------- End of code ------------------------

Can anyone shed some light as to what I need to do to get this to work?

Thank you and best regards,

Hi,

I got mine to work. Dell couldn't help me. The drivers on the Dell site
didn't work. The drivers preinstall with the Dell Windows XP did the work.
