I have an AMD 64 X2 3800+ with 32 bit Win XP Media Center Editiion installed.
I downloaded Vista 64 and burned the ISO, but when I attempted to install
from the ISO DVD I got an error message that it was not a System 32, so
nothing happens. What's a guy to do?

Normal, a 64 bit version can't be run in a 32 bit environment.
Burn the iso on a DVD with Alcohol, Nero or another...
Insert disk and restart Pc, when prompted, boot on the DVD and follows
instructions.
Easy, isn't it ?

the issue still stands, how do I upgrade from 32 xp to 64 bit vista? you
can't upgrade from the boot DVD.

Hello,

Unfortunately, you cannot upgrade from Windows XP to Windows Vista 64-bit.

You cannot upgrade from 32bit XP to any 64bit OS. You would have to boot
from the DVD and perform a clean install only.

Install Vista x64 to a separate partition. If you do a clean install to the
XP partition you will lose all your files. If you do not have a separate
partition or drive and this is your primary home computer, wait for the
release of Vista in a few months.
