I am running Windows2000 and want to switch to XP. The operating system
needs serious cleaning so figured now is the time.
I always seem to have trouble transferring settings to a new system. Can I
find a list somewhere of what system files need to be copies and/or backedup
to make the transition easy? i realize this is in addition to all personal
files. Do I only need to copy my user name from Documents and settings?

find your command prompt & type:format/?
or type:dskpart/? or part/? or help/? or mount/? or
chkdsk/? there's hundreds more but those should do for now. since you want
to copy the files you just type:
copy/?

Are you sure that you posted this to the correct question?..
No, he's been posting nonsense all over the MS newsgroups for a couple
of days. I've called him on it numerous times and given him the polite
and not-so-polite "how to post" links. He's either not playing with a
full stick of RAM and/or is just a troll.

Gary Woodruff's F.A.S.T. info is exactly what I have been looking for.
Thanks for your help.
