Today, I install XP Pro in my Vista notebook. Of course I install XP in
different partition, support I can multi-boot in boot-up time. Strange,
after install XP Pro in drive D:, no boot up menu display to choose OS boot
up. After checked boot.ini, I can't found any statement about Vista. How to
recover the Vista and multi-boot up?

Kindly advice.

Hi,

When you installed XP, you overwrote the mbr to point to XP's bootloader
(ntldr). Vista does not use/boot from ntldr nor boot.ini, you need to boot
with your Vista DVD and run a startup repair.

With XP running:

1. put the Vista DVD into the DVD drive
2. open a Command Prompt window
3. key
cd x:\boot (press Enter)
where x is the drive letter of your DVD drive
4. key x: (press Enter)
where x is the drive letter of your DVD drive
5. key
bootsect /nt60 SYS (press Enter)

This will restore the Vista Boot code and the Vista boot menu.
