Is there a way to create a small partition on a harddrive, then copy the XP
install cd to that partition and perform an install from the harddrive?

If so, please tell me how to go about doing this.
-Assume there is no operating system installed and the computer is home
built.

I am curious about XP Home and XP Professional.

TIA,

it can easily be done, in fact i just did it, but i don't
think it can be done without an existing os, any os wil
do, simply put the xp files into a folder on hhd then run
the setup.exe

Thanks !

Ok,
I have a 120 GB Harddrive and I would like to have, say a 2 GB Partition
that will hold my install CD's for Windows XP and Office. All I have to do
is copy the CD to a folder and then run the install? That seems too easy.
Does windows XP use cab files like 98 did? Is there a boot disk I can
download that will let me access my CDRom and Fdisk my harddrive? that way I
can do it without having to first install an OS just to install XP on top of
it?

TIA,
Parley
