SVC:
If you can boot directly to the W2k CD, do so. Then start the W2k
install from the screen you'll see. Fairly early in that install process
you will be offered the opportunity to format the partition you want to
install to. Having done that, simply proceed with the clean install.
If you cannot boot directly to the CD, then get 4 floppy diskettes, put
the W2k CD in the drive, switch to its BOOTDISK directory, and start
either MAKEBOOT.EXE (if in a DOS environment) or MAKEBT#@.EXE (if in a
32-bit environment.) Then boot from diskette #1 with the CD in the
drive, and follow instructions.
These 2 methods have exactly the same result. If necessary, you can
create those 4 diskettes on any other machine with a CD drive, and use
them on your machine.
If you are determined to use the method you suggest in your post, then
visit
www.bootdisk.com, download a boot floppy image that includes CD
support, and do your thing.

Yes, run winnt (if you're in DOS) or winnt32.exe if you're in Windows
