I have 2 HDD's in my laptop, XP installed on a 100 gig C drive and I
installed vista on the second, 60 gb hdd
both are SATA, separate arrays, and I successfully got vista install to load
the XP drivers to access them - from a USB key - interestingly would not load
them from a usb floppy drive.
anyway, install copies and expands the files etc, but then says it can't
make necessary changes to the system drive, and fails
any ideas?

cant follow what you are saying. did you successfully install VIsta? why are
you trying to load XP drivers in Vista?
if you need a driver that is not available for Vista and that is what you
are trying to do then you should do it in compatability mode.
