Anyone have any success installing the Digital Download of Vanguard
(http://www.vanguardsoh.com) on Windows Vista 32-bit Home Premium? The
installer always gets to a certain file -- the file is
'Ra5003_P1_C3_Grid_Caves01_Mesh.usx' -- and then it crashes with the
following message:

Error Code: -5011 : 0x8000ffff

Kernel\IScriptWrapper.cpp (81)

This error occurs whether I use the Compatability tab or not, and even if I
run it using Admin priv's.

Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

Got a PR downloable version installed fine which I believe is the same as
the digital download one. Try running it as the administrator as that seems
to make a difference with some online titles that need to download stuff.

Okay so it turns out I had the wrong program set to run as Administrator.

When I set the correct one to run as Admin, it got past the original 'bad
file,' only to fail at another further down in the process.

*cries*

I tried running it as Administrator. =\ No luck so far - always crashes on
that one file. I tried running it in WinXP sp2 compatability mode also, with
no luck.

Just wanted to post a follow-up to anyone who might be having the same
issue:

I continued to have problems even after running the correct EXE as Admin,
but I did notice that Launchpad had been installed anyway, despite the
trouble. So I went ahead and ran that (as Admin), and the game proceeded to
download from the patch server. Granted it took about 5 hours before I had
the game, but it could have been worse - I found that the 'official' fix is
to download *the entire game* from the patch server, which probably takes
about a week to finish...

So even if you only get some of the game installed from the downloaded CAB
files, go ahead and run the launcher - you'll still be saving yourself
boatloads of time.

By the way - the game runs great in Vista. :-)
