I have linux, which uses grub, on the master hard drive. Can I install
win2k on the slave hard drive? Or, must win2k be on the master hard
drive?

thanks :)

Shouldn't be a problem as long as you have the system partition figured.

It depends on how clever grub is. My boot loader (XOSL)
lets me boot Win2000 from any partition on any hard disk,
primary or secondary, master or slave. It does it by making
the Win2000 boot partition appear as the first visible partition.
Boot.ini must, of course, reflect the correct disk and partition
number.

Thanks. the boot.ini would be on the slave drive, where the windows
partition is?

Boot.ini must be on whichever boot drive is activated
by your boot loader. If unsure, place it on all drives and
tag it so that you can see which one gets invoked. The
other boot files (ntdetec.com and ntdlr) must be in the
same place.
