Hi,
I am just wondering will the PC getting slow when you
install more and more softwares? Thanks

Adrian

No. A 1.2Ghz processor is still a 1.2Ghz processor. As
long as you do regular maintenance like defragmenting then
the system will run at full steam. You need to make sure
that you configure the programs correctly and not have
every one load at startup. While this slows the boot
process down it in no way slows the operation of your
machine down. Configuration and maintenance is the key.
Don't have files on the desktop. Don't have programs there
either, in fact you should only have shortcuts there.
Don't have programs running in the background that you
don't use. Turn off any and all automatic updating, manual
is the best. You can learn to tweak and boost your systems
response times as you become more proficient. www.kellys-
korner-xp.com has good tools and advice as well as
www.dougknox.com My recommendation for RAM is a minimum
of 512MB and a HDD of at least 20G. If you download a lot
of apps then you will use up 10G in a hurry. Enjoy XP and
have fun.

Installing software does not slow down a machine. Running a lot of
software simultaneously will appear to slow down a machine because each
application will get an increasingly smaller slice of the PC as you run
more applications. The CPU has a constant speed which runs the same all
the time.
