Help !
I have a Windows Server 2000 at home. When installing ANY service pack, the
computer will reboot and then "stop" on the screen displaying "Windows Server
2000" with the blue bar at the bottom of the screen. It will move about half
way and stop dead! It is a 500Mhz MB with 192MB Memory
Video is a 3dlabs Permedia2 (Microsoft driver)
Kingston EtherRx KNE111TX network Adapter

Yes, Active Directory is running (DNS etc..)

I have to reboot the machine in safe mode to role back the installation. Has
any one had this issue before. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks,

G Man

Check Event Viewer for errors. Check %systemroot%\svcpack.log for errors.

Thanks.

The only thing I saw in the log file was "Copied File (Delayed)
<path>\SET*.tmp"

Nothing in the event viewer.

If the Event logs are blank then the files may be corrupt.

You might try changing the file properties to "Overwrite as needed"

Then; Control Panel|Administrative Tools|Services|Event Log Service|General,
set the "Startup Type:" to "Disabled" restart the pc, then delete (or move)
the corrupt *.evt file(s) from %systemroot%\system32\config then set the
Event Log Service "Startup Type:" back to "Automatic", restart for effect.
